Random Pickers and Wheels
Random pickers and wheels choose from a list you type in: one name, several winners, even teams or a new order for everything. Every entry has the same chance, drawn in your browser.
A picker takes a decision out of your hands on purpose. Nobody can say the teacher chose a favourite, that the host knew the winner, or that the captains left someone until last. The list goes in, chance decides, and everyone can see that it did.
Which random picker to use
Every tool in this category starts from a list you type or paste, one entry per line. What differs is what comes out:
- One entry, with a spin a whole room can follow: spin the wheel. It has a full-screen mode for projectors and a transparent mode for stream overlays.
- Teams, groups of a set size or pairs: the random team generator keeps sizes within one person of each other.
- Several prizes from one list: the random winner generator removes each winner before the next draw.
- A running order for everyone: the random order generator shuffles the whole list.
The rest of the category picks from lists that are already built in: an animal, a dog breed, a colour, a game for tonight. They are small tools for small decisions and classroom warm-ups.
How the pickers keep every entry equal
All of them work the same way underneath. Your entries stay in your browser, and each draw comes from its cryptographic random generator through an unbiased method, so no line on the list has an edge.
The team, order and winner tools rest on the Fisher–Yates shuffle, which makes every possible order equally likely. How our randomness works walks through the code.

Random Pickers and Wheels: FAQ
Can one entry get a better chance than the others?
Only on purpose. On the picker wheel, write Ada *3 to give Ada three shares; in the random choice generator, write an option on two lines to double its chance. Everywhere else, every line counts once.
Are the picks fair?
Each entry on your list has the same chance unless you give it extra weight on the wheel. Picks are drawn with the browser's cryptographic random generator and an unbiased method; how our randomness works explains both.
Is my list uploaded?
No. The pickers run on your device. Some of them remember your list in the browser's local storage so it is still there next time.
