How Origins Are Combined

Each origin (American, British, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Chinese, Indian, Russian) draws from its own separate list of first and last names — a French-origin batch only pairs French first names with French surnames, it never mixes in an Italian surname. "Mixed/International" works differently: for each name in your batch, it first picks a random origin, then a name from that origin's list, so a single 5-name batch might return one German name and one Japanese name side by side.

Selecting "American" with gender set to "Any" and a count of 3 might return: Robert Garcia, Sarah Thompson, Michael Rodriguez. Names are drawn independently on each generation, so repeats are possible within a longer list — the tool doesn't track what it already produced.

Setting Origin, Gender, and Count

Origin narrows the name pool to one culture's list or all ten combined. Gender restricts first names to the male or female list for that origin (or draws from both when set to "Any"). Count accepts 1 through 50 names per click.

What This Is For

Filling out user tables in a test database, generating a character roster for a game or story, or replacing real customer names in a demo with placeholders that look plausible but belong to no one.
