First Name Generator Guide

How to Use:

  • Select a gender preference (or keep "All" for any gender)
  • Choose an origin to get names from specific cultures
  • Pick a style to match your preference
  • Click "Generate Name" to get a random first name
  • Keep clicking to generate more names!

The database behind this tool holds close to 200 first names tagged by gender, origin (English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Arabic), and style (modern, classic, unique, traditional). Every result comes with a caption showing which tags matched — for example, generating with Origin set to Japanese might return "Sakura • Female • Japanese origin • Traditional style."

Narrowing the Results

Click "Generate Name" to draw from whatever combination of filters is currently set. Combining narrow filters (say, Male + Arabic + Unique) can shrink the pool to just a couple of names, so the same result may repeat on consecutive clicks.

Reading the Caption

The bold text is the name itself; the smaller line underneath states the exact gender, origin, and style tags that name carries in the database, so you can see why it matched your filters.

Known Gaps

If a filter combination has zero matches, the tool says so directly ("No names match your criteria") rather than falling back to a different combination. The list is fixed — no new names are added dynamically — and some names appear identically under more than one origin (Emma shows up in both the English and German sets, for instance).

Useful for naming a character with specific cultural or stylistic constraints, picking a name for a pet, or building out a baby-name shortlist filtered by origin.
