Boat Name Generator

Generate creative names for your boat! Choose a style and the number of names you'd like to see.

The generator pulls from four separate word banks — one per style — and mixes an adjective with a noun, occasionally adding a prefix like "S.S." or "Lady" for extra flavor.

The Four Styles

Nautical & Traditional
Draws from maritime vocabulary — words like "Windward," "Anchor," and "Keel" — for names that sound like they belong on a marina.
Serious & Majestic
Combines regal adjectives ("Sovereign," "Valiant") with nouns like "Legacy" or "Triumph" for a name with some weight to it.
Funny & Playful
Uses fixed templates such as "Sir [adj] [noun]" or "[adj] Mc[noun]face," producing results like "Sir Wobbly Pickle" or "Wonky McNoodleface."
Random Mix
A general-purpose word bank (Swift, Blue, Wild + Wave, Explorer, Spirit) for names that don't lean formal or silly.

Example Output

Requesting 3 names in Nautical style might return something like Salty Mariner, S.S. Tidal Compass, and Harbor Navigator — the "S.S." prefix shows up on roughly 30% of names in the non-funny styles, drawn from a short list that also includes "Lady," "Lord," and "M.V."

How Duplicates Are Handled

The tool tracks names it has already shown you in the current batch and skips repeats. If you ask for more names than a given word-bank combination can realistically produce without repeating, it stops after 100 attempts rather than looping forever — in that edge case you'll simply get fewer names than requested.

Good For

Naming an actual boat, picking a callsign for a fantasy sailing game, or settling a debate with a co-owner about whether "Wobbly Pickle" is a serious contender.
